Mounting Solar Panels: Beginners Guide
Solar panels are available in various sizes and capacities and this makes it readily available both to the poor and rich. One has to decide on the type to go for depending on the power of his pocket.
In our previous article on solar panels, we were able give a little description on how it works. In this article will be presenting a step to step guide on how to mount Solar panels for beginners.
So if you are a beginner and you've got Solar panels to mount follow our step to step guide to arrive at your desired result.
Basic Requirements
As a beginner, before you consider mounting Solar panels you've to make sure that all the required materials are intact and functional. Below are the materials you require to mount Solar panels effectively.
- Solar panel
- Solar Battery
- Solar controller
- Solar bulbs (12V(volts))
- 6mm Solar cable
- 1.5mm or 2.5mm Solar cable
- Bulb holder
- Contact switch
- Solar inverter
- Cable clip
- Solo tape or junctions(cable joiner)
- Solar frames
- off/on switch
How to mount Solar panels
Now that all the required materials has been listed, let's get down to business. Solar panels are preferably mounted on roof tops or open environments for proper reception of sunlight. So let's drive the nail into the coffin.
- Fix the panel on the frame you've provided
- Locate an area on the roof top with proper reception of sunlight
- Connect the 6mm cable to the cable behind the solar panels, putting the negative (usually black) and positive (usually red) points into consideration.
- On the roof top located, mount the panel firmly with the aid of the frame
- For a neat job, all cables should be clipped with the cable clip to the wall
- The 6mm wire running down from the panel should be connected to its place on the solar controller (it is normally indicated on the controller)
Note: Never you connect the cable directly to the solar battery as doing it will cause the battery to perform abnormally.
- A part of the 6mm Solar cable connected to the positive and negative terminal of the battery should be connected to its place on the solar controller (always indicated)
- Make a neat 'wiring' using the 1.5mm or 2.5mm cable, lamp holders, contact switch and connect it to the remaining position on the controller
- Connect the solar bulbs(12v)(make sure it's indicated) to the lamp holders
- You have to join the cables with junctions or insulate them with solo tapes at joining points to avoid short circuit.
- Finally connect the inverter to the cable from the battery using a cable joiner
- You can regulate the flow of current to bulb and inverter by using two off/on switch.
- From the description above, if well done supplies a 12V current that powers the bulb and a 12V current converted to 220V current by the inverter that powers our normal electrical appliances such TVs, fan, radio, woofers etc.
Conclusion
Solar panels serves as a good alternative to our normal source of power supply and that's why we decided to come up with this step to step beginners guide on how it can be mounted. So start the practice for practise the say makes one perfect.
